Yes, this was a result of the good Mr. Trump.

It's too bad we usually only hear about the other Mr. Trump.

Yep. Like it or not, this is his legacy.

It's a good legacy, if it revolves around the court.

By its very nature, SCOTUS should be conservative. After all, they are the final word on whether whatever zany law, hatched in the fevered minds of pandering politicians, passes Constitutional muster.

Yes, the court is made up of people who are products of their times, and they do, and will, make mistakes. But the Constitution must be paramount in their deliberations and verdicts should never be written on a bad interpretation of our rights.

And judicial philosophy and temperament changes from time to time.

I love, love, love the trend of taking power away from our already overbearing federal government. The lower down the chain decisions are made, the more citizens have agency.

cases that make it to the Supreme Court are sufficiently arguable constitutionally, that the justices can be imagined as lawyers arguing the case of their client. Liberal judges have their tribe as a client, and the conservative judges have their tribe as their client. It’s obvious that the conservative tribe intentionally hews closer to the constitution. That’s basically a tautology. The side closer to the constitution is the conservative side.

Good post. And yes, I am very much grateful for the judicial impact Trump had. Imagine how FAR left the court would’ve been if Hillary had added 3 liberal justices.

It would’ve been 6-7 liberal votes each decision. Instead now it’s 5-6 conservative votes. As Jolly said better err on the side of conservative when it comes to judicial rulings, IMO.
