Do you have a bike Jolly? It’s not bad exercise. Easy on joints and you can control the pace.

                No, I don't.

I've got a recumbent and a treadmill for aerobic stuff, but I have the grace and balance of a three-legged cow.

Louisiana in summer is not where I would choose to ride. January, maybe.

I was in NOLA in late November. Not particularly enjoyable. Just cold enough to make you uncomfortable, and just humid enough to make you REALLY uncomfortable.

It's the old bad-president-catches-his-toe-in-bike-clip-and-falls-down story. This is exactly what we warned you about when you elected the man. Taxes will go up, inflation will soar, the stock market will plummet, and he'll catch his foot in his bike pedal clips pretty much constantly and fall over like a bad president always does.

I love watching the level at which conservatives are willing to talk out of their ass about cycling because it affords them a plausible position in their mind to diss Joe Biden.

I hope ol' Joe takes up mani/pedis next week and something happens.

You can clearly see that he skipped the swipe across the tips. Why did Jill Biden, supposedly a woman, allow this to happen? Any idiot knows that you've got to lock in the polish if you want to prevent chipping.

Nah. You've got a few people on Twitter, the ass-end of the internet.

The only thing most folks had to say, is the same thing I did, which is that joe may want to take up some form of exercise where the chances of injury are less.

I really hate toe clips or baskets. Never allow them on my bikes, although I understand they take advantage of the upward stroke.

They come out of the box on a lot of hybrids like the kind Biden is on. I can very easily see how his bike could have been equipped with one.

Strangely, they're also a very common aesthetic choice among fixie riders. Usually they go with a full metal cage or use leather straps because nylon ain't cool, but cages are still the rage.

                                  I hate 'em, too.

What is the alternative. Because I think that is what they use in the professional bike races, right?

I've had my share of rather embarrassing bike accidents related to "clipless" pedals (a rather confusing name, since these are pedals where you need to clip in). It looked similar, or worse, than that Biden clip.

From what I understand, there is no performance advantage to clipless pedals. The idea that you can transfer significant power on the way up is a myth.

I use them for three reasons: They are, with the right shoes, more comfortable on long rides, I don't need to constantly readjust the foot placement to find the optimal position, and I feel safer at high speeds or rough terrain (no danger of loosing contact with the pedals). That said, I also use flat pedals sometimes. It's not a huge difference either way.
