It is too bad that this is needed.

Great. Now what about gender based scholarships and grants? Academic awards and admissions? Hiring based on gender qualifications and benefit packages?

And is DeWine going to veto? A lot of moderate Republican Governors HAVE vetoed these bills...

I don't think so. He's a sensible guy and this is sensible legislation. Still has to get through the Senate though. Sad that NCA made it necessary.

Equality Ohio says it will work to stop the bill as it heads to the state Senate, calling it "appalling".

“The health and safety of our youth are not negotiable. This should not be a partisan issue, and we are appalled that our lawmakers are once again causing real harm to LGBTQ+ youth to score political points,” said Alana Jochum, Executive Director of Equality Ohio. “All Ohio youth deserve the opportunity to play on a sports team with their peers without having to hide who they are.”

Equality Ohio said the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) has had a policy in place for years and in 10 years there have been fewer than 20 transgender students approved to play high school girls' sports.

It only takes one to skew everything.

I mean, at some point... SOME point you have to stand up to the idiocy and draw a line. I think allowing male athletes to voluntarily declare* their gender and participate in female contests is beyond even a logical discussion as to why that shouldn't be allowed.

*Yes, I understand there are substantial/mental issues that need to be respected and dealt with and it's not as simple as an average male athlete wanting to compete with females, but that is the net result.
