What do you call it when the Press Secretary encourages illegal demonstrations in front of the homes of members of a co-equal branch of government?
“So I know that there’s an outrage right now, I guess, about protests that have been peaceful to date,” Psaki later added. “And we certainly continue to encourage that outside of judges’ homes and that’s the president’s position.”

- Psaki isn't the president.
- Psaki didn't antagonize a group of people into a mob because she couldn't accept the outcome of an election.
- Psaki's words didn't lead to events that prevented the electoral college from conducting their voting.
Good thing Trump only wrote mean tweets!

She could have worded it better.

No shit. She is the Press Secretary for the President. She should be aware of what the law is, and she should have been prepared for questions about demonstrations with that knowledge in hand. So say that the president "encourages" this is simply encouraging people to break federal law by trying to influence a judge's decision. Some might call that an insurrection, you know, demonstrating to change something a co-equal branch is doing.

I'm a bit out of my element here, but I would venture that the press secretary's job is not to know what the law is. (Hell, nobody knows what the law is anymore.) Her main job is to clarify what the president said to the press, so they get it right in their coverage.
I can't agree that peaceful protest translates to illegally forcing judges to change their decisions. There is nothing wrong with peaceful protest, and judges are free to disregard it. She may have been encouraging people to demonstrate their disagreement, which does not mean breaking federal law.

OK then, it's the President's job to know what the law is, and if he doesn't, ask before offering an opinion. And, secondarily, for the Press Secretary to not anticipate such questions is surprising. What do you think that notebook she carries is all about? Current issues and responses to questions they presume will ask. After 2-3 days of said demonstrations, you can bet that this question would have been asked.
