    Tonight's dinner: bullshit!

I do this sort of thing All. The. Time: look in the fridge, find shit to get rid of, make a meal.

Tonight it was pears and chicken breast. So, add in some veggies, thyme, vinaigrette, brown sugar, serve over rice. Perfect bullshit "recipe."

Grilled strip steaks with mushroom demiglace. A wonderful Janesse Cotes Du Rhone I bought a few years ago the has developed into an incredible wine.

Last night it was chicken schnitzel.

Tried a new recipe for potatoes:

        https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Crisp-Oven-Browned-Potatoes-350913?utm_campaign=yummly&utm_medium=yummly&utm_source=yummly

        INGREDIENTS

3 pounds large Yukon Gold potatoes
        1/2 stick unsalted butter, melted
        3 tablespoons olive oil
        Equipment: an adjustable-blade slicer

        PREPARATION

Preheat oven to 350°F with rack in upper third. Butter a 3-to 4-quart shallow baking dish.
Peel potatoes and thinly slice (about 1/16 inch thick) with slicer. Toss with butter, oil, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper in a large bowl. Transfer to dish and cover tightly with foil.
Bake 20 minutes. Remove foil and increase oven temperature to 450°F, then continue to bake until top is browned and crisp, about 25 minutes more.

Beef stew, corn bread, local corn. All at my godmother's house.

          Totally bragging.

I had the jumbo lump crab cakes from Whole Foods and grilled some zucchini with garlic, lemon zest, and a splash of balsamic.

and grilled some zucchini with garlic, lemon zest, and a splash of balsamic. Go heavy on the lemon zest.

Good idea! We have been grilling zucchini lately and should give that a try.

@89th here’s my recipe. I don’t bother with the salt or pepper (it has red pepper flakes already and who needs more salt?) and I use just a splash of balsamic, added on the serving dish not the grill.

Looks great. We're having Steakhouse Blue Cheese Burgers, corn picked this morning and a caprese salad. Weather is gorgeous, so dinner on the deck.

Wow that looks great. The tomatoes look perfect. I haven’t been too pleased by the produce down here so far. No farmers markets either.
