Inflation to be "Extraordinarily Elevated" due to Putin's price hike.

How bad is it when the administration says it's going to be bad before the actual announcement?

Reminder… 7.5% Bidenflation and increasing before Russia invaded China.

On March 31, Mrs George and I went through a local drive-thru for dinner (it was late, and I didn't feel like cooking).
She had a hamburger (no cheese).
We shared a large fry.
I had a garden salad with Caesar dressing.$13.35
One week later, the same meal was $14.46.
Inflation, it's real, and it's spectacular.
By the way, their online menu has this totaling $9.87 plus tax.

You know, Karla’s been getting hesitant about a few of the extras we’re spending on this vacation next month and is considering cutting some corners on the trip. My response? The extra $$$$ we save won’t make a difference if we do get tight next year and we may as well spend it while it’s worth something…

8.5%
In March, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers rose 1.2 percent, seasonally adjusted, and rose 8.5 percent over the last 12 months, not seasonally adjusted. The index for all items less food and energy increased 0.3 percent in March (SA); up 6.5 percent over the year (NSA).

That’s not Putin. That’s the inflationary trend we’ve been watching for the past year.

I don't know why they aren't more honest. If they need something to blame this has a lot more to do with the pandemic than Putin.

Silly Phibes, they're politicians. It's in their blood to lie and divert.

The pandemic is over. Ain't you paying attention?
Even if it were, which obviously it isn't, the inflation is the result of stuff that started happening in 2020. Some of Biden's policies clearly haven't helped, but this is a global phenomenon.

Yes, that's what @jon-nyc has pointed out. So, what's the current administration done since they took control to stop it?

Anything they do that actually slows inflation is likely to be very unpopular with pretty much everybody. Much easier to blame Putin.

To paraphrase a saying. "It's gonna hurt. The only question is whether it's gonna hurt a lot now, or hurt a lot MORE later."

Interestingly, inflation is WAY lower in Japan.
I shifted a few investments there.
I would do the opposite.

Isn't that the place where the stock market hasn't gone up in a couple generations?

Which is exactly why it will now!

Just local observations … yeah, March’s inflation numbers will look bad when reported in April, but just by looking at grocery and gasoline prices, it looks like they are coming down lately. Deals and discounts are back in groceriy stores, and most gas stations have dialed gasoline prices back down.
