Even if it were, which obviously it isn't, the inflation is the result of stuff that started happening in 2020.
Yes, that's what @jon-nyc has pointed out. So, what's the current administration done since they took control to stop it?
Anything they do that actually slows inflation is likely to be very unpopular with pretty much everybody. Much easier to blame Putin.

To paraphrase a saying. "It's gonna hurt. The only question is whether it's gonna hurt a lot now, or hurt a lot MORE later."

Interestingly, inflation is WAY lower in Japan.
I shifted a few investments there.
I would do the opposite.

Isn't that the place where the stock market hasn't gone up in a couple generations?

Which is exactly why it will now!

Just local observations … yeah, March’s inflation numbers will look bad when reported in April, but just by looking at grocery and gasoline prices, it looks like they are coming down lately. Deals and discounts are back in groceriy stores, and most gas stations have dialed gasoline prices back down. :man-shrugging:

Yes inflation is 2020/pandemic driven, mostly. Also, global. The only way to stop it now in the US now is to hike rates and kill the economy. While this ties in this @xenon ’s recent thread, Biden knows it’ll also kill the Democratic Party for a good 4-10 years. I call that a win win btw, @Larry and @Jolly despite what you think of me lol

BS, @89th Yes, there is inflation everywhere, but the EU’s rate is almost half of the US. If the Pandemic was the only driver, then inflation would be more similar instead of the US rate being twice the rest of the world. In addition, part of the cause of the EU inflation IS US inflation. Sorry for the US Centric view, but in a global economy when the largest economy in the world has a problem, the rest of the world feels it, too.
Also, some of the causes do go back to the Trump Administration and I do firmly put some of the blame on them (more on Congress, though), but the last thing we needed at this point was an administration that has tried to keep the pedal down on the spending while 1) laughing and dismissing inflation then 2) blaming the private sector for “profiteering” then 3) saying it’s an opportunity and finally 4) blame Putin. If this was a Putin issue, the inflation would be higher in the EU than the US.

Why slow it? Our National Debt just went down effectively 5%!
-
BTW, by 1980's standards, our inflation for The Resident's time in office exceeds 14%.
You know you're in trouble when Al Sharpton starts complaining about "limousine liberals" in Washington not having any sympathy for what inflation is doing to the average guy on the street. ..

See, April's inflation numbers are slightly better than March's.
Will May's numbers be worse or better? Too soon to tell right now. Energy / gas prices are up, supply chain issues from China getting worse and cascading closer to consumers, so May does not look optimistic.

How the everloving hell do you see that as an improvement? The rate of increase was slightly less, but it still increased…

The percentage figures are “year over year” comparisons.
