Elon Musk buys a big chunk of Twitter

I agree, Jolly, but I donât know how much effect an ownership change of Twitter 1-2 weeks before an election will have on the outcome.
But really I was questioning George about this guyâs ability to dispositively affirm such a statement.

Opinions are like assholes. Thereâs a lot of them on Twitter.

I've been assured that "blue-check" Twitterati have a higher status than the rest of us plebs.

Will be, wonât he?
Musk has until Oct.28 to actually buy Twitter or face a Delaware court case.

From the RWEC:
First, that âthe public conversation is in jeopardy.â Why, yes, I do believe thatâs why many have objected to the heavy-handed censorship thatâs been notable on the platform in recent years â something in which many of those worker bees seemingly have played an eager role.
Second, characterizing Muskâs rumored intentions as âworker intimidation.â SoâŚthe prospect of losing oneâs job is intimidating, eh? Friends, may I introduce you to âcancel culture,â and the progressive Twitter mob?
Third, all the demanding. I donât know how to break it to these 21st Century Norma Rae wannabes but while I donât begrudge them petitioning their would-be employer for redress, the haughty, entitled tone is precious. Letâs examine the dynamic: The employees work for the company (voluntarily), so its boss is, in fact, the boss of them.
Conversely, the Government works for We the People â and, in fact, our right to petition the Government for redress is enshrined in the First Amendment â so we are, in fact, âthe bossâ in that dynamic. Yet, when conservatives protest government overreach, theyâre a âthreat to democracy,â and calls for Twitter to be treated as a true public square, where speech remains free, have been dismissed as whackadoo, fringey, rightwingery.
Anyhoo, I donât know about you, but Iâm getting the popcorn ready to watch how this all plays out.

Whitehouse sez not true...

Let that sink in?
God, that guy is so far up his own arse I bet he thinks the world smells just great.
My guess is that he'll make Twitter even worse than it is already.

Hey guys, "You're fired."
Elon Musk completed his takeover of Twitter Inc. TWTR 0.66%increase; green up pointing triangle Thursday, according to people familiar with the matter, capping an unusual corporate takeover battle and setting up one of the worldâs most influential social-media platforms for potentially sweeping change.
Mr. Musk fired Chief Executive Parag Agrawal and Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal after the deal closed, the people said. Spokespeople for Twitter didnât comment.
It wasnât immediately clear who would step into those top positions. CNBC previously reported the firings.
Mr. Musk completed the deal a day before a court-imposed deadline to complete his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter or face the prospect of a Delaware trial over the dealâs future.
There were signs this week indicating that Mr. Musk was moving closer to acquiring the social-media platform by Fridayâs 5 p.m. deadline. Banks started sending money backing the deal, The Wall Street Journal reported. Mr. Musk also has changed his Twitter bio to âChief Twit,â showed himself walking into the San Francisco headquarters of the social-media platform, and issued a statement on Twitter explaining his vision for the site to advertisers.
Closing the deal ends a monthslong saga of whether Mr. Musk would or wouldnât purchase the company. The deal also would put one of the worldâs most prominent social-media platforms under the control of the worldâs richest person, with implications for the future of online discourse.
