Elon Musk buys a big chunk of Twitter

Here's a thought...
So, suppose that Musk's deal to buy Twitter falls through, and both parties walk away, none the richer and none the poorer.
Supposedly, $44B is enough to buy the platform and all of its associated assets.
Would it be beyond Musk to just build another platform to compete with Twitter? Granted, "Truth Social," like Parler and WeMe have not gotten the traction that their proponents hoped for, but with Musk's name recognition and ferocity, can this be a thing?
Likely not, I'd say. Many, many people have tried to make alternative social platforms. And quite a few of them have been great. But they completely failed, either because they weren't as addictive as what's presently out there, or weren't sufficiently different from what's presently out there.

I agree with you.
In addition, a large % of people who are on Twitter are outside the US. And outside the US, Elon Musk is not very well known, so people would not go to a new thing he started just because of his name.

@George-K I think the focus on bots is a pretense. He’s backing out, or trying to anyway, because his bid is too high given what’s happened in markets since the early spring.

Could be. It would certainly make sense. However, he started complaining about the lack of transparency wrt bots shortly after he made his bid, didn't he?

How about we make Elon an offer to purchase TNCR for just $43B? According to my last audit, we have less than 5% bots.
Traffic or accounts? I imagine our bot activity is very low, but not accounts to be very high…

Twitter sues Elon Musk, setting stage for epic legal battle
The scathing legal complaint, calling the billionaire’s exit ‘a model of hypocrisy,’ kicks off what is likely to become one of the most contentious business trials in recent history

I honestly can't tell whether that's satire or not.

At first it surprised me since Musk has come out as a Republican, anti-woke, anti censorship on Twitter, etc. you’d think Trump would love him
Then I remembered Musk tweeted a few weeks ago that the GOP needs to move beyond Trump.
Trump is a single issue guy - doesn’t really matter what you politics are, it’s all about kissing the ring.

Exactly, If you dont kiss President Trumps shoes.......
He is turning into a caricature of himself, if that is possible.
Or maybe the crazy relative that comes to family parties because you have to invite him, but nobody really wants him there.
