It’s very clear to most reasonable people that it wasn’t staged. You could see the emotion running through both of them after it happened. Both in Smith’s screaming about keeping his wife’s name out if Rock’s mouth, and in Rock as he stumbled over the rest of his lines. And in Smith’s later tearful acceptance speech.

If they'd staged it, it would have looked more like the movies and less like a couple of knobheads in the pub.

It wasn’t staged, for reasons Horace mentioned above. Rock probably thought a fake slap/punch was coming in good spirits, not the real deal.
Also Smith laughed at first prob because it was the normal thing to do on national television, and he also probably didn’t get the alopecia connection at first until he saw Jada’s face.

The left has bent over backwards to give black culture room for its macho male culture to grow unabated, resulting in Chicago and Baltimore murder numbers. It would be easy to blame that culture for this, but that would be ridiculous, since Will Smith is more of a pampered privileged princess than nearly anybody else in the world.

One of my engineers (a woman) was out shopping with her boyfriend a few years ago and two guys made comments about her. The boyfriend confronted them and they stabbed him. He died right there in the shopping mall. They went down for murder.
This stuff can get bad really quick.

This stuff can get bad really quick.
Which is why you carry a gun. Avoid trouble, but always be prepared to make sure the judge only hears one story.
