Deer.
Wife wouldn't let me shoot them last year. They ignored my hotwire and ate most of several plantings. Im doubling my hotwire, putting a ten-mile charger on it. I'm going to scatter some human hair and some Irish Spring shavings on intervals. I'm also going to hang some aluminum foil strips on the hotwire and dab them with peanut butter. Lastly, I may string some 20# monofilament between the wires.
If none of that works, I'm going to sight Bessie in, buy some fresh batteries and I'm going to kill deer. Big deer, little deer, stewers and fryers.

Luke's cruising through his Freshman year and has started saying two very scary words "Medical School"...
Karla is working on getting our outdoor area finished with the paver patio, garden, etc... And being a one-woman preschool for Finley.
Finley is taking huge steps forward with his speaking. We were getting worried a little for a while. He understands a lot of words, just wasn't using them. That seems to be moving forward...
I have an interview this afternoon about taking a position on a local performing arts center. It's kind of interesting. If I decide to take the position I'll probably mention it in a thread.

Oh my! He's very capable, and it's great to have a doctor in the family.
Mine's not going into medicine, but I will still tell people things like ... " My doctor says bourbon is good for me. Yes, a double is the right amount." "My doctor says I need to have plenty of chocolate, dark chocolate especially, in any form I please."Karla is working on getting our outdoor area finished with the paver patio, garden, etc... You are so lucky to have her. She's amazing! Just think if you had to hire all that done. She's worth every bit of whatever she wants or needs for her work. Doesn't matter how much it costs, she still makes it a bargain. You are SO lucky!

Finley is a thinker. That's a very good sign. He will indeed make leaps forward with speech and other skills. There are people like that. They soak in the things they want to learn, and then their productivity and skills just burst forward in huge steps. Be prepared to be blown away with this little one.

They would be smart to grab your skills and knowledge. I doubt they could find that mix in another person. I'll look forward to your thread.

My big news is that I have no news. Not spending as much time sick as in years past, so I guess that's something.
I acquired a pash for football a year ago. Surprised myself with how I went from zero to 60 so quick.
My ideal job now would be team manager.

No news can indeed be good news! Staying well is big news, even if it's just longer spells of wellness.
I've noticed your increased interest in football! Hmmm .. team manager of a bunch of football players? Yeah, I think you could whip them into shape. Be fearless. If anything, they would learn to fear the wrath of Cats!

Larry and Ax now agree on everything.
It was bound to happen.
When two forces go around and around, at some point they are likely to crossover and become one. So ... Larry buys ties at Walmart now, and Ax tells good jokes now?

Good for you! We have deer in our yard, too. They eat all the things the books say they won't eat. So I put the books right out there for the deer, and they refuse to read them. It's frustrating.

Horace, how are your leg and hand? You've had plenty of issues with both, and it's absolutely no fun to have pain in limbs that get used every day and all day.
Things are getting better, thanks Brenda. I think I’m on the road back to a full recovery where I can start hiking again.

Hi @brenda - I'm just thawing out from my first MN winter. Starting some spring projects... also just painted our kids' playroom today. This weekend I'll put some stuff on the walls and that'll be another room done...

So how was your first winter here?
When you're done working on your own house, I have projects waiting for you at my house.

I'm about the same. Drowned a sack full of kittens this morning on my way to town to evict an old woman from her home. You know... nice friendly stuff...

Larry, you know better than to tell me that.
Now give me the real news of Larrydom. -

Wow! That's a big improvement. You can join 89th here and help him work on my house. You healed just in time. Xenon is back from his trip all rested and ready to work here, too. I can hardly wait!!

I might do it if I got paid in baked goods.

The first winter was fine. I like the cold, so it didn't bother me although I heard it was much colder than most winters. It seems like December through February is the true heart of winter with temps often in the -10s... but there are a number of really nice (and some, free) indoor fieldhouses, playgrounds, pools, etc. So no shortage of things to do.
When the kids get a tad older, it'll also be nice to go cross country skiing at some nearby parks that have miles of paths.
Anyway, now it's nice to be outside and I'll start doing some jogging-stroller runs... it's also nice to be outside before any mosquitos arrive, too! LOL
