How are y'all? What's new with you?

Luke's cruising through his Freshman year and has started saying two very scary words "Medical School"...
Karla is working on getting our outdoor area finished with the paver patio, garden, etc... And being a one-woman preschool for Finley.
Finley is taking huge steps forward with his speaking. We were getting worried a little for a while. He understands a lot of words, just wasn't using them. That seems to be moving forward...
I have an interview this afternoon about taking a position on a local performing arts center. It's kind of interesting. If I decide to take the position I'll probably mention it in a thread.

My big news is that I have no news. Not spending as much time sick as in years past, so I guess that's something.
I acquired a pash for football a year ago. Surprised myself with how I went from zero to 60 so quick.
My ideal job now would be team manager.

I'm well thank you. How/where have you been Brenda? How's your daughter doing?
Horace, how are your leg and hand? You've had plenty of issues with both, and it's absolutely no fun to have pain in limbs that get used every day and all day.
Kiddo is doing well, with good progress on the PhD during an internship at Argonne National Lab. It was supposed to be in-person, but was switched to virtual. Thanksfully, all the work can be done virtually. There might be an additional internship there, too, sort of an extension. They like her work, and she's getting all the more material for the dissertation. It's a wonderful relationship. We visited kiddo over the holidays, and I hope she can visit here during the summer.
Work has been busy for me. Lots of new projects and collaborations with other entities in our region. My work crosses over with several other organizations, and they all want to work with me it seems. Many of the 83 entities within my organization are getting more active, too, which makes for busier days. I love working with them, it's just the best work ever, and it motivates me to do more.
Just yesterday, one of the folks in another organzation asked me how long I have been active in this kind of work. In one fashion or another, I've been involved for nearly 30 years. I was stunned to think how long it's been . Darn, I'm getting old!
The person asked because they think it's kind of amazing I am still so enthused with my work, and they know I've been involved for along time. Yes, I still love it, even after all these years, but my work has changed and grown, and I get to move things in the direction I think is necessary and best. I think having control of that makes it far more interesting. So far, people seem to agree with the choices I've made. I get input from them on a regular basis to inform my decisions, which they seem to recognize and appreciate, 'cuz boy oh boy do they love to share their thoughts!

I recently had sticky buns from Flour bakery delivered. They are delicious.

Link to videoFlour Bakery in Boston? I've been there! I also have one of the owner's cookbooks.
They make everything delicious. Did you know the owner is an economist who switched to baking as a career? Indeed. It's a fun story, and I bet it's out there in the big wide web.

Cat hijinks here. Stella and Luna get along great and play together a lot, chasing each other around the house like crazy creatures. Still working on the kitchen and half bath.
Went to the Keys this month, swam with dolphins. Went to key West - meh.

Swam with dolphins? How amazing! How close to you were they? Or are you speaking metaphorically, being a big tease? LOL
Pics of your home project progress when you can, please? I love that kind of thing.

Deer.
Wife wouldn't let me shoot them last year. They ignored my hotwire and ate most of several plantings. Im doubling my hotwire, putting a ten-mile charger on it. I'm going to scatter some human hair and some Irish Spring shavings on intervals. I'm also going to hang some aluminum foil strips on the hotwire and dab them with peanut butter. Lastly, I may string some 20# monofilament between the wires.
If none of that works, I'm going to sight Bessie in, buy some fresh batteries and I'm going to kill deer. Big deer, little deer, stewers and fryers.

Oh my! He's very capable, and it's great to have a doctor in the family.
Mine's not going into medicine, but I will still tell people things like ... " My doctor says bourbon is good for me. Yes, a double is the right amount." "My doctor says I need to have plenty of chocolate, dark chocolate especially, in any form I please."Karla is working on getting our outdoor area finished with the paver patio, garden, etc... You are so lucky to have her. She's amazing! Just think if you had to hire all that done. She's worth every bit of whatever she wants or needs for her work. Doesn't matter how much it costs, she still makes it a bargain. You are SO lucky!

Finley is a thinker. That's a very good sign. He will indeed make leaps forward with speech and other skills. There are people like that. They soak in the things they want to learn, and then their productivity and skills just burst forward in huge steps. Be prepared to be blown away with this little one.

They would be smart to grab your skills and knowledge. I doubt they could find that mix in another person. I'll look forward to your thread.

No news can indeed be good news! Staying well is big news, even if it's just longer spells of wellness.
I've noticed your increased interest in football! Hmmm .. team manager of a bunch of football players? Yeah, I think you could whip them into shape. Be fearless. If anything, they would learn to fear the wrath of Cats!

Larry and Ax now agree on everything.
It was bound to happen.
When two forces go around and around, at some point they are likely to crossover and become one. So ... Larry buys ties at Walmart now, and Ax tells good jokes now?

Good for you! We have deer in our yard, too. They eat all the things the books say they won't eat. So I put the books right out there for the deer, and they refuse to read them. It's frustrating.
