Trump threatening to deploy troops in the US, then having the Secret Service and US Marshalls fire on peaceful protestors with rubber bullets so he could clear them out for a photo op at St. John’s?
While craving to appear “big” and “strong,”
Trump is too small a person to lead the land of the free,
too thin skinned to respect the First Amendment,
too thick to understand, much less to appreciate, the Constitution.I guess as long as someone else pays for the hundreds of millions of dollars of damage, people are paid not to work and only a few people die as collateral damage you are 100% correct.

“We long ago lost sight of normal, but this was a singularly immoral act,” said Brendan Buck, a longtime former Hill aide who is now a Republican operative. “The president used force against American citizens, not to protect property, but to soothe his own insecurities. We will all move on to the next outrage, but this was a true abuse of power and should not be forgotten.”

I guess you have to be able to see both sides of this. Trump’s stunt was an outrage but so is the uncontrolled violence in the cities. It seems like each side is justifying the wrongs of its own side.
As in the left is looking past the damage and lawlessness and the right is looking past the rights to protest. Sorry protesters you are pawns and human shields.

@Loki these guy’s weren’t rioting or looting, they were standing around it was pretty peaceful. I was listening to one of them being interviewed on the radio when it started. It was quiet in the background, the reporter was describing the peaceful scene, then all hell broke loose as flash bangs began to drop.

Dude, did you not see the picture of people lining up to purchase guns and ammo that George posted? All this deal hasn't been a protest, since the first day of so.
Well...

Yeah it was terrible and the opposite of what I expected Trump to do Monday night.
I will tell you I have heard people in the suburbs saying they want a gun...people that would never consider one and were opposed in the past. Something is going on.

This is the Secret Service.
They do the same for any president and the president doesn't get much choice in how they execute it.
I have seen them do some pretty outrageous stuff for Carter, Clinton and Obama. It is how they operate. Personally I don't like how they operate and I have told them so, more than once. It is overkill but that is what they want.
-
Sure, the Secret Service has their protocols.
Trump and his lackeys are too stupid or too inconsiderate to account for those protocols with his decision.Imagine:
- Trump: When does the curfew end?
- Lackey: 7pm.
- Trump: How much time do we need to get the site ready for my photo op?
- Secret Service: half hour
- Trump: OK, let’s do my photo op at 7:30
Trump and his lackey failed step 3, so steps 3 and onwards did not happen, and you end up with the use of violent force on peaceful protesters, trampling over the First Amendment in the process.

I've watched dozens of videos and spoke with my friends who participated. That particular incident, at that location and at that time, was peaceful. Anyone who says otherwise is an asshole.

She's the rector of the St.John's in Georgetown, not Lafayette, but she was at the latter yesterday. Look her up on social media, she's quite the radical.

Copper is right. The Secret Service does not screw around. Most serious people I ever saw.
That said, all this law and order posturing is going to give us our Tiananmen Square. We do NOT want that.
+1
We need people to start calming the fuck down, and our leaders need to help that, not make things more volatile.
