Hey George

How’s the Costco hooch?
-
@George-K Based on the lack of response last night, either pretty good or not so good...

Forgot to respond, getting ready for bed.
It's...okay. Smoother than my usual (cheap) Scotch, and not quite as "rich," in flavor. But not bad.
Perhaps tonight I'll pour a sip of each and compare.
Did you get the Speyside? Or was it the blend? Also, you bought a name brand, too? I can't remember.

George do I understand correctly that you drink only for the taste and never for the inebriation?
Actually, that's true. THere's no doubt that some "relaxation" occurs, but if I feel it in my head, then I stop. I really dislike that feeling. I will, however, sip throughout the evening.
On a related note, when we were in Denver a few years ago, Mrs. George and I tried some weed. I hadn't done it since, well, the late 1960s. It was remarkably unpleasant. No euphoria, just a feeling of intoxication. Couldn't wait for it to wear off.

You don’t have to give up on drugs entirely just because your first few experiences were sub par. Many people find that they enjoy some after dinner meth, and for others, heroin is their passion. The important thing is to never give up. Drugs don’t fail people. People fail drugs.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, buddy.
I'll have to reconsider my disappointment and perhaps look to alternatives.

Who makes Costco blended Scotch?
Costco’s blended Scotch whiskey is procured from Alexander Murray & Company, a purveyor and exporter of Scotch whiskeys. It works with 12 Scottish distilleries to procure the goods for and bottle Scotch for places like Trader Joe’s, Total Wine, and yep, Costco.
Is Kirkland Scotch Macallan?
Kirkland? If that name sounds familiar it’s because it’s the house brand of big box megastore Costco. And yes, they bottle their own brand of Macallan Scotch whisky. The independent bottlers take the full casks, mature them in their own warehouses for whatever time they like, then bottle the whisky.
Is Kirkland Canadian whiskey made by Crown Royal?
Luckily, Punch was able to uncover the fact that Kirkland’s Canadian whiskey is made by Crown Royal and their bourbon by George Dickel (although it had previously been manufactured by Jim Beam).
Is Kirkland Irish whiskey Jameson?
It tastes a little like Jameson, but the floral aromas are balanced with a sweet creaminess that is lacking in the world’s best-selling Irish whiskey. Not much else to say, but I’m enjoying Kirkland a lot more than the last Irish whiskey I bought, which was twice the age, incidentally.
How much is Macallan 18 at Costco?
A typical Macallan 18 goes for around $150, so the $60 price is a steal. This particular bottle has a sherry oak finish and you can read more about it from the product label.
Is Kirkland Scotch good?
This is an excellent blended whisky. It’s very smooth and extremely drinkable and for a 12 YO blend exceptionally well-priced. It would certainly rank in the top 10% of blended whiskies.
