Yeah that helps matters. Let's publicly say an obvious thing in the most antagonistic way possible.

I think the man said exactly what he meant and I concur. That community is just outside of Tampa. If the folks want to peacefully protest, they are welcome. If they want to loot and burn, they can die spitting blood.

That's a nice, clear cut binary choice.

Besudes, it's all fun and games, until you die on the sidewalk...

You seem to not understand that a police officer harping so strongly on shooting people is not likely going to help a week-long, nationwide riot that started after a police officer killed somebody. It's absolutely fucking stupid and beyond tone-deaf. Let them figure it out for themselves, you don't say shit like that if you want to keep things civil. It's almost as bad as ACAB.

          Please love yourself.

I get that things could tip the other way in many places, but I don't think threats from the police is helpful right now. Most of the protesters want to be heard, not burn things. Best not make radicals out of some of them.

No one is talking about the protesters. Antifa isn't protesting, they have no stated goal other than to create chaos. Shoot the sons of bitches.

Antifa are shitbag opportunists that need larger crowds to hide in before they start their rampages. I don't think there's serious risk of them moving this into the 'burbs. Unless tensions escalate. That would surely make it easier for them.

Moving into the burbs would be a violent terrorist incursion. We're still talking about smash and grab shoplifting for the most part. It would be a giant leap.

It is Antifa talking about moving it into the suburbs.

                    Shoot them.

Let them come to the burbs. Everyone will then have a gun even in the moderate burbs. No sanctuary here for them.

@Jolly it raises an interesting question.

I think that, in most jurisdictions, if someone comes to your property with the intent of causing harm, you have the right to use proportional, if not deadly, force to defend yourself and your property.

Does this not apply to a business that's being looted?

In our area, that's not true. A guy breaks in and goes for your TV, you can't injure him. All you're legally allowed to do is call 911. You can only defend yourself against an imminent threat.

                                Louisiana has Castle Doctrine.

Louisiana's Castle Doctrine In Louisiana deadly force is legal when preventing immediate death or serious bodily injury in one's home, vehicle or place of work. Non-deadly force must be deemed reasonable under the circumstances.

@Jolly it raises an interesting question.

I think that, in most jurisdictions, if someone comes to your property with the intent of causing harm, you have the right to use proportional, if not deadly, force to defend yourself and your property.

In our area, that's not true. A guy breaks in and goes for your TV, you can't injure him. All you're legally allowed to do is call 911. You can only defend yourself against an imminent threat.

A guy comes into your home or business wielding a shovel, 2X4 or baseball bat. Is that an imminent threat?

Only if he makes a deliberate move against you. You hit or shoot him in the side or from a long enough distance, and you can very well be prosecuted.

                                    Crazy law.

                                    Please love yourself.

If you let the average man wielding a shovel within ten feet of you and your weapon is still holstered, you stand a very good chance of being maimed or killed.

Yep. 20 feet for the average person with experience. So yeah, crazy law. But like my old sifu used to say, "know your local laws." His English was fine. What he meant was, know what you're getting into.

Here's what the police chief told me a long time ago. If you shoot him, make sure you kill him. And drag the body inside the building before you call us.
