@Mik I think Kallas is a little bit too optimistic. Russia isn't doing very well, but is not broke.
    Yet.

They've shown remarkable resilience. That or the dreaded sanctions were toothless.

I would agree with Wim. Russia is definitely hurting but no where near falling apart. Never forget that it is a country whose economy in the past 35 years has twice collapsed yet continued to function without a revolt of the masses as a consequence.

          Happenstance or intimidation?

An Irish navy ship spotted five drones operating near the flight path of Ukranian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy aircraft as he arrived for a State visit to Ireland on Monday night.

The sighting triggered a major security alert amid fears it was an attempt to interfere with the aircraft’s flight path.

I'm not a huge believer in coincidence where Russia is concerned.

I don’t even try any more. In his current role, the man’s incompetence in the game of high stakes diplomacy is an existential threat to Western civilisation.

How’s that for an unabashed and deliberate dunk?

In India Putin just repeated his stance on 'Novorussiya'.
So far no reaction from the US...

No surprise, but then it is not likely anyone is left in Washington other than possibly Marco Rubio who knows what Novorossiya means or even implies.

I wonder if Witkoff understands that Putin is just thumbing his nose at the recent US attempts to stymie his cash flow from oil exports:

“Russia is a reliable supplier of oil, gas, coal — everything required for the development of India’s energy,” Putin said Friday as the two leaders met for their summit focused on energy, defense and trade.

“We are ready to continue uninterrupted shipments of fuel for the fast-growing Indian economy,” the Russian president added.

Modi thanked Putin for what he called Russia’s “unwavering commitment toward India,” noting that energy security remained a “strong and important pillar” of the relationship.

We’d be hard pressed to do much about shipment to India, and their need is huge. That’s even before the lower transportation costs.
