Interesting viewpoint, and true, I think. We need a plan for if things escalate.
I can't possibly see how this doesn't happen.

Putin is far more rational and calculating than many of his opponents give him credit for. He has a nose for weakness, including for his own fragility, but it is not infallible. He is fond of the good life. As Garry Kasparov pointed out, ‘Putin wants to rule like Stalin but live like Abramovich’.
Nails it.

The French Foreign Legion used to be famous for their comfort girls. Maybe Wagner will adopt a similar policy...

A more detailed piece on the Russian claim that the west is to blame. A grain of salt, as it is written by Russian state media. An interesting view.

Poland to send fighter jets to Ukraine. Hopefully this will encourage other former WP members to release their Soviet era inventories to Ukraine. Better late than never.

Anything that gives the Russians more to worry about is good.

However, more planes may not do much good, with both sides having effective ground threats to them.

I get that it is a recognized dilemma in this war. Nevertheless at least by sending Ukraine the Soviet era aircraft the NATO states close to Ukraine and Russia can modernise their air forces. As well, by supplying Ukraine with more air capability, Russia will continue to be held back from gaining any meaningful air superiority over a wide area in Ukraine.
Besides this war is not about to end any time soon. We either support Ukraine to the hilt or not.

Here’s link I came across a couple of weeks back on the comparative relevance of the A-10 and SU-25 to the Ukrainian theatre at this time

Old argument. Back in the day, I made the argument that the U.S. should buy some Frogfoots from the Russians, plonk some new avionics in them and give them refueling capability.
They are a very capable airframe that can operate off of truly horrendous runways.

Good. Now, I wonder how the U.S. program is progressing that allows NATO weapons to be used on Soviet and Russian aircraft?
