    Thought this would be easy.

I bought my son an MP3 player for our bike rides. He wants to listen to a podcast called rslash.

In my experience, you can go to the podcasts website and download the mp3s. Well, this podcast doesn’t seem to have a website. That leaves me with the podcast consolidators, which don’t seem to offer such a basic facility.

    Any ideas?

Have him listen via your iPhone? If you have Bluetooth he doesn’t even have to hold it.

I’m already using my iPhone during these rides.

I use python scripts for such shenanigans, but there's probably a better way.

          Please love yourself.

I don't even understand why shenanigans would be necessary.

I go to econtalk or Sam Harris' podcasts, there's a download button that gives me the mp3.

Why would any free podcast not do this? Whatever ads they have still get listened to.

You're still pulling it from the platform and that's almost certainly against the terms of use. Because if you have the mp3 you can strip the ads, and they lose all their tracking data on you.

I haven’t looked into this, but for many podcasts the incremental audience gained from providing mp3s is likely not with the effort of hosting them.

Sam runs a freemium model - which is only used across a small population of successful podcasts (to my understanding)

How about YOU listen to the podcast and repeat out loud what you hear, so your son can listen to you repeating it. Solved. And no mp3s.

Also if he repeats it in Swahili his son could simultaneously learn Swahili.

                      Education is extremely important.
