            From the RWEC:

It’s pretty difficult not to despise Lia Thomas.

I know I do. What a sad, pathetic, disgusting human being.

I don’t despise him because he thinks he is “transgender.” If he wants to cosplay being a woman, it is no skin off my nose or anybody else’s. I think he is mentally ill or pretends to be, but as somebody who has mental illness in my family, I certainly don’t despise people for being afflicted.

I despise him because he is harming people for his own selfish purposes, using a trendy excuse to butt into women’s sports and take gold medals away from them–and of course to expose his genitals to women who definitely don’t want to see them.

Lia Thomas is not “stunning and brave,” but a cheater whose claim to be a woman is as valid as mine to be a cat.

Not that the alphabet ideologists wouldn’t fight for my right to use a litter box.

              https://www.axios.com/2024/04/08/private-colleges-transgender-women-athletes-ban?ref=upstract.com

A national athletics association for smaller private colleges and universities around the U.S. adopted a new policy on Monday that bans transgender athletes from women's sports.

Why it matters: The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) is believed to be the first national collegiate athletic governing body adopt such a policy.

NAIA did so despite having no knowledge of transgender athletes competing in its postseasons to this point, according to CBS Sports.
However, all athletes may participate in NAIA-sponsored male sports, regardless of what gender they were assigned at birth.

Catch up quickly: NAIA oversees around 83,000 student athletes at around 250 schools that are not apart of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA).

Its adoption of the policy only applies to NAIA competitions. NCAA rules allow transgender athletes to compete if they adhere to the guidelines of their international sport governing bodies.

Athletes governed by the organization will only be allowed to compete in women's sport if they were assigned female at birth, according to the new policy adopted by the NAIA's council of presidents with a 20-0 vote.

Such athletes can participate in team workouts, practices and other activities, but not in interscholastic competitions.

                Disappointment...

Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas lost a legal battle Wednesday challenging an effective ban on trans women competing in the highest levels of women's swimming, dashing her hopes of making the Summer Olympics in Paris next month.

Three judges on the Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed Thomas’ request for arbitration with the World Aquatics governing body.

“The panel concludes that she lacks standing to challenge the policy and the operational requirements in the framework of the present proceeding,” the court said Wednesday in its ruling.

Thomas, who seldom gives media interviews, told ABC News’ “Good Morning America” in 2022 that one of her lifelong goals was to compete in the Olympics.

With Wednesday’s ruling in place, she will be unable to participate in this month's qualifying trials to compete in the Olympics.

Under rules established in 2022, World Aquatics banned transgender women who have been through male puberty from competing in women’s races. It also created an “open” category for which transgender athletes would be eligible.

Gutfeld: "Thomas said, 'Okay, I'll take my balls and go home.'"

Indeed. I said a while ago that 50 years from now my grandkids will either be saying "Grandpa, how did you not accept trans whatever" or they'd say "Grandpa, how on earth did anyone think that's normal?", and I'm glad for now it seems we are returning to the latter...

Who knows. I'd imagine most folks there knew this was stupid to let a man swim with women because he likes the color pink among other cultural feminine norms, and only a handful of people who prioritize tolerance over sanity cheered him on as he raced the girls.

Right but remember that a lot of people never agreed but went along out of ‘social desirability bias’. I think much of what we saw with the collapse of the trans movement was an old fashioned preference falsification - preference cascade cycle.

I’m not disagreeing, and I didn’t have enough time earlier to post my thoughts on how that extends in both directions. I am sure there were plenty of administrators and leadership at UPenn that personally opposed the decision to allow Lia to compete, but didn’t speak out for multiple reasons. I’m also equally sure that there are many happy to have had this decision actually taken away from the university and being given an out.

I just don’t think the collapse of the Trans moment is as complete as everybody seems to think it is. There are still true believers in positions of power in Universities, Medical Associations, Psychiatry and Counseling groups, and government. Everywhere from local school districts up through the highest levels. We’re only a couple of dozen of months away from President AOC reversing direction with a few signatures, and U Penn reinstating the guy’s records.

Kuran developed that concept when you were in high school.

I’m sure the ideas have been around for a lot longer than those particular labels for them have been. The social dynamics have been manifest and obvious forever.
