I’m sorry then that I called her a twat. Even I don’t think that it is at all appropriate call a woman such. Rather, given her attitude and demonstrated sense of entitlement towards lawful authority, I ought to have called her a “princess” or, at the very worst, a “stupid cow”.

I'm not saying anything remotely virtuous. I'm just pointing out that getting all riled up about this woman being told to be on her way whilst condemning similar if somewhat more extreme behaviour in others is a little inconsistent.

The recitation of the "cops kill black people" narrative is virtuous, you know that. You appear entirely uninterested in learning why that narrative and its connotations are fictitious and destructive to the communities it purports to empathize with.

OK, I understand your viewpoint, though I don't agree. The woman (yeah, she was obnoxious) displayed no violence toward the police, and yet she was assaulted. The police officer struck her, knocking her phone/camera to the ground after she did nothing other than enter an area that he said she should not, and took videos. She never touched the cop, afaict.

She knew where she was and deliberately provoked the cops.

Perhaps in Canada, but not here. Taking a video of a police officer has been ruled a totally appropriate thing for a citizen to do.

I actually wasn't digging at George. For one thing, he isn't typically one of the people that says 'if only these people did what they were told...'. I was pointing out that a large number of people do say that, and they share a large cross-section with the ones who are now shouting 'Fascist!' at the Canadian police.

My thoughts, distilled:

1. Do the truckers (or any group) have an absolute right to protest?
   Yes.

2. Do the truckers (or any group) have a right to interfere with the movement (blocking of streets) and peaceful lives of citizens (honk)?
   No.

3. Do the police have the authority to remove those who interfere with #2?
   Yes.

4. Do the police have there authority to use physical violence in trying to enact #3?
   Only when violence is exacted upon them.

5. What is "violence" in #4?
   Touching, pushing, hitting. Not words. Actual physical contact. The response of the police should be proportionate to the actions of the person upon which said response is enacted. Kicking a downed protestor, hitting one with the butt of their rifle, and striking an offender who did nothing more than enter a so-called "prohibited area" and question the police is not proportionate.

In all fairness @George-K , in about 2-3 days a group inspired by this group will be shutting down my work. They will impact my ability to provide for my family. While I generally support their cause, if it goes on for as long as the Ottawa protest goes on, I will be fully supportive of the police stomping their asses to get the roads moving again…

I support their rights to protest up and until it affects my right to take care of my family.
