It bothers me that people think they are making some statement "against the man" if they dont wear a mask.

There are still people who think the pandemic is nothing but a Barge-type plot to usher in the New World Order.
If it were they'd be smart enough not to collapse the world's healthiest economies to do it.

Last night, a local restaurant district was swamped. While the restaurants closed certain tables to try and accommodate the social distancing requirements, people at their tables would spread out a little and people were in each other’s spaces. On top of that, you had others that weren’t able to get a table so they ordered takeout and was taking it out into the park/square in the middle of the plaza. So they ordered the food and stood around in the restaurant waiting for 20-30 minutes... So even though the restaurant was technically seating only 50% capacity, they were over capacity with all the people standing around. And these people looked around and saw all the diners without masks and figured there was no point in them wearing one and took it off as well.
The outside was even worse... And this was happening at each of the 12 restaurants in the district...
My food wasn’t ready when I got there, so I paid the waitress an extra $20 to bring it to my car. No way I was staying in there.

Of course, way less people get sick from masks than die every year from seasonal flu.

Mostly the germs I was breathing out that are already in me and a few maybe a few from outside that I would have inhaled. Of course, it’s better on the mask since viruses and germs generally need a living host and die off on cloth and these paper masks...
But just in case, I also wash my cloth masks and use a UV light to disinfectant the others.

Washing machine should take care of it.
I have a number of cloth masks with filters. Change the filter at least every day, and change the mask at least every couple of days, if not sooner.
Filter is replaced, mask is washed and reused. Not a big deal.

Corporations are way out in front talking to employees in a meaningful way about Covid distancing and diversity issues.
I hope GOP leadership is taking into account that it’s not just the partisan folks and media driving the messaging to its partisan base, but that it has gone mainstream now.
Reistence and relying on old strategies could lead to a shocking election result.

wrote on 29 Jun 2020, 14:32 last edited byThe general rule of thumb is to throw out a disposable mask once it becomes damp or after every one time use, which ever comes first. In the case of a home made mask, you launder it with soap and water after every use or after you have worn it until it becomes damp.
I don't believe a study is necessary or why a study could, would or should be an issue for skeptics looking for excuses not to mask in indoor and confined public spaces.
