That is the notion that we could ever defeat COVID?
Seems like we're maxed out on vaccine uptake, we have some treatments and - most importantly - this thing has now infected what must be almost half the population and gotten much milder.
After this wave... is there anything left to do?

Yes, declare your side was right and hold the other side in derision. It would be good if you can find a way to punish them, too.

Last summer (June/July) it felt like it was over. Rates were really low, most folks were getting vaccinated... but then the waves came. However, this is the first time since then I think we might be potentially beyond this thing, relatively speaking. With a combination of infection-based immunity/antibodies, vaccinations, better knowledge of how to treat... it's hard to imagine anything except a return to normalcy/open society with a delay of course with places like airplanes and hospitals.
