Costco vs Sams
-
We've been a member of Costco for years. So we're used to the product selection, the brands, etc. There are a few items there we really enjoy getting and can't find anywhere else.
While there is a Costco 17 min from our house, there is a Sams Club 9 minutes away and they recently had a promotion for a free membership for the first year. Anyway, we decided to try it... very similar to Costco. The aisles are a bit wider, which is nice, but also perhaps because the average customer there was also a bit.....wider.
We'll probably still go to Costco for most of our (monthly) grocery/etc shopping trips. I use Costco for rental cars, etc. But will go to Sams if we need basics like diapers, batteries, produce, or gas.
This has been an exciting post. You're welcome.

You don't realize how good you have it.
My closest Sam's is 25 miles away. The closest Costco is almost 90.
And when Jolly says Sam’s, he means some guy named Sam that sells a whole bunch of stuff out of his barn.

That is one advantage of the DC suburbs. The traffic is bad, but you have at least one of every brand name store within driving distance.
Costco was a couple miles south on Route 28, Sam's a few miles north up 28.

I don't even know where the nearest of either is from me.

LOL! We are fortunate to have been able to select a home location that puts us relatively close to a lot. 10 min from retail, 5 min from the country (cornfields and rodeos), 20 min from downtown, and a bunch of lakes/parks nearby.

I basically drive past 2 Costcos, 2 Sam’s, and a BJ’s Wholesale on my daily commute (15 miles) and that doesn’t include the Costco that is closest to me (1.2 miles).

Oh, and Amazon, three screen swipes…

Costco 12 miles
Sam's 16 miles
WalMart 2.5 milesHate all of them. lol
I have been a member of Costco for 3 years. Been there once. I need to cancel that membership. I keep forgetting.
It doesn’t renew on it’s own, so you shouldn’t need to worry.

Here’s the thing about Costco speaking as a vendor… There is no other business out there that works harder on getting their members the highest level of value and service. The steps they take to make sure you are satisfied are astounding. You are always assured of a minimum level of quality and value as well as after sales service.

Good to know. Usually store-brand items are not the best, but Kirkland (Costco's brand) is usually a really great product (food or not).
