Who knows if the suspect was armed, but either way, I don't see this much different than a really strong tackle by a cop, or even how cops do the pit maneuver. All are dangerous but stop the pursuit. Maybe don't run from a cop.

Hitting the guy with a two-ton vehicle is hardly a "tackle."

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Just ask Jolly about some of those LSU linebackers. 🙂

A fractured spine, ribs, and both legs and you equate it with a tackle? Nice.

The guy was being pulled over due to a license plate issue. Don’t know what he was running for, but he was never charged with anything.

Running from the police? Bad idea. Running over somebody because you think they might be a bad guy? Worse idea.

You want to honor and respect police? Great, so do I. But with that honor and respect comes higher standards of conduct.

@lufins-dad He wasn't run over, he was shoved (hard). Which stopped him from fleeing police. I guess they could've gotten out and asked him to stop very very loudly? Maybe they should bring back the net gun, that would've worked, too.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to respect somebody who thinks it's ok to act like that guy did.

A uniform doesn't automatically mean we should respect somebody. I'm sure we can all think of examples of people wearing very nice uniforms who didn't deserve it....

              I was only joking

A broken spine, broken ribs, and broken legs and you refer to that as a “shove”? In the words of that wonderful non-lying President, “Come on, Man!”

As to what the officer what else the officer could have done, there’s a whole long list of things that he was supposed to do, including letting the asshat get away if necessary. Lethal Weapon is a fun movie, but a whole lot less fun if acted out in real life.

That wasn't a shove. That was a pretty vicious assault.

A shove is a "rough push" and I said it was a "hard shove" which means it was a "hard rough push". Ok I'm splitting hairs... yes cop's car was going faster than other videos where I've seen a cop stop a fleeing suspect on foot by hitting them with their car. Still, I don't really have a problem with it and would prefer what we saw in the video than a fleeing criminal getting away. To be clear, had the criminal died... the cop would likely have been found guilty of some form of manslaughter, so maybe slow down a bit next time.
