                Brilliant - provide no stable footing AND a barrier.

                I wonder if the upright rotates to make it easier to fill.

                  Eventually, they will learn to jump from the railing to the feeder, even to the roof of the feeder. They may also find a tree branch from which to leap onto the feeder.

                    I’ve seen enough of these to think like 🐿. 😀

                    I’d jump on the roof of the feeder and then hang down by my hind legs and start chomping.

                      That's exactly what they do. Been there, seen that.
