At the beginning of last year there was a lot of optimism that this thing would be over by Summer 2021.

How about this year - does Omicron seem like the beginning of the end?

    I'm optimistic.

      No, you're hopeful.

      This is optimistic:

I'm optimistic hopeful too. The charts to support the likelihood that the Omicron wave will really taper off by end of March and I would hope we are at minimal numbers by May and beyond. Perhaps with a seasonal flu-like spike each winter (including a covid shot).

Last summer (May/June) it really felt like it was ending... Vaccines were being distributed, masks were coming off... but perhaps this summer we'll have enough exposure/immunity and vaccines that it'll really keep future variants at bay.

I think it's too early to say.

Everybody's sure sick of it at this point, so it's likely going to resolve itself, one way or another.

I'm kind of hoping we'll get more effective vaccines, but I don't know anything about the technology, so I can't judge whether this is realistic or not.

          I was only joking

This wave will be over. Next variant to follow.
