    Actually, I have two bitches.

    1. I wore a mask at work every day, EVERY FUCKING DAY, from 1976 through 2016. I just pisses me off that I have to wear one to go buy groceries.

    2. I always hated the "over-the-ear elastic" masks. They were uncomfortable and restrictive. Whenever I walked into an OR, I always used the "double-tie" masks. That's the kind that you position over your face and there's a tie that fastens to the top of your head to keep it from falling down and another one that you'd tie behind your neck to keep it close to your face. They were the most comfortable type for me. I can't find those anywhere.

George, your wife sews. There are good patterns online. I'm making some custom ones for hubby, kiddo, and myself. Things I wanted in my design:
Soft cotton fabric in tight weave.
Flexible nose piece to conform with the bridge of the nose, holding the mask close to the face on top.
An interior pocket for holding a PM2.5 filter.
Adjustable elastic for behind the ears, and must be VERY soft for comfort.
      Washable.

Made the first one yesterday, and had hubby try it. Big thumbs up!

      He wants moar!

George, let me know when you find some decent masks. We, in "Silicon Valley" CA have to wear masks, and I can't find any decent ones to buy online. There are none to buy in the stores throughout California. We are the last, besides Los Angeles County (I think) that are having to wait before things open up.
I don't mind wearing a mask, I just want some new disposable ones.

In the grand scheme, it's not bad... but man it's getting old wearing a mask to go outside (I live in a condo and have to ride an elevator). Also, washing my hands every time I come in, and otherwise wiping things down (groceries, my keys/phone, etc) is getting very old. I also shower every time I get home from work and throw my clothes in the wash. Again...not bad, but it's getting old quickly.

Sucks even more if you wore a mask for many decades like you did, for work.

Legit. For most it's a new annoyance.

            Please love yourself.

My problem with the behind the ear elastic masks? If it’s a strong elastic, it pulls my ears slightly out and my glasses won’t stay on. I’ve had to switch to contacts every day.

George, drop a dime...Surgical masks are out there. Surely one of your old compadres could grab you a few.

Data lacking to recommend broad mask use
We do not recommend requiring the general public who do not have symptoms of COVID-19-like illness to routinely wear cloth or surgical masks because:

There is no scientific evidence they are effective in reducing the risk of SARS-CoV-2 transmission
Their use may result in those wearing the masks to relax other distancing efforts because they have a sense of protection
We need to preserve the supply of surgical masks for at-risk healthcare workers.
Sweeping mask recommendations—as many have proposed—will not reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission, as evidenced by the widespread practice of wearing such masks in Hubei province, China, before and during its mass COVID-19 transmission experience earlier this year. Our review of relevant studies indicates that cloth masks will be ineffective at preventing SARS-CoV-2 transmission, whether worn as source control or as PPE.

Well yeah this data would be handy wouldn't it.

                      Education is extremely important.
