D3 booked a trip to Vegas with her friend. They've been friends since high school, and there's no "romantic" relationship -they're just buddies.
So, they booked a 2 bedroom AirBnB in Vegas.
They had to cancel, because this was the 2nd "bedroom."

I have been looking to book a few airbnb trips for this year and am feeling really discouraged by the prices. The extra fees seem to keep growing and growing. I used to feel like if I booked a few nights or a week the fees were justified, but now the fees just increase with the number of nights you book. sigh

Stuff like this will kill it.
I've used both AirBnB and VRBO. Lots of substandard places out there if you are not careful. Unless there is a group of four or more I just pick a Marriott property.

We also find the fees more than a bit off-putting..

Probably was, but D3, being D3, probably didn't look for it.
They're staying at hotel on the strip.

Makes sense. The Strip hotel may cost more, but you save on transportation (if you have to rent a car otherwise) and time.

I’ve found that half the places on AirBnB and VRBO are professionally managed and available in realtor sites for less.

Hmm ... suppose you see a few AirBnB or VRBO listing that you like, how do you find the realtor sites that rent out those specific properties?

One time the agent improperly posted the name of his agency on the communications. I didn’t book from them, but it did get me looking at various realtor agencies in the area and I saw many of the same listings that I had seen on VRBO. So now I start by checking out the real estate rental sites burst then doublecheck VRBO and AirBnB

We used to have a "master bedroom" like that for multiple years. It wasn't so bad.
We lived in a 80 square metre apartment and the choice was to either use one of two big 25 sqm rooms as bedroom, or a tiny hideaway. We thought it was a waste of resources to spend a precious good room just for sleeping. Having space for a grand piano should always have priority over having a proper bedroom
