@89th my bad, I should have been more specific.

During what years was Trump against the COVID vaccine?

In June of this year he said we're lucky to have the vaccine but vaccines for young people needs to stop. In May last year he said it would be helpful to have the vaccine, but that the coronavirus will probably just go away on its own. He also was the only ex-president not to appear in a pro-vaccine public service message. Just recently (in Sept?) he told his supporters he probably won't get the booster shot. As seen in the first post of this thread, he did end up getting it.

As with most topics, Trump tries to have it both ways... he is for vaccines, but also they can cause autism. He is for the covid vaccine, but it may not be necessary. He thinks it's good to get it, but people should be free to choose not to (I agree with that btw). He probably wont get it, but then he ends up getting it. So as I said initially... he gets partial credit for planting the seed of doubt among many who are currently anti-vax.

Give the quote and context for stopping vaccines for young oeople.

In the case of COVID going away, that's the general path of many pandemics.

OMG, he didn't appear in a vaccine commercial? Quelle horreur!

Son, you're trying to fling enough mud, so some of it sticks. It is starting to look desperate...

@jolly All I said is he planted seeds of doubt (an opinion), he has made anti-vax statements (accurate), and when asked about COVID vax I replied with the comments that have planted the seeds of doubt among some (accurate). No mud here, just an opinion that references facts for context.

Trump's a complete pillock. We all know that.

Well, I know that. Some of you seem to have doubts.

I'd make more jokes about American voters if it wasn't for the total fucking prat the Brits have elected in their wisdom.

Of course. Autism and COVID deaths are the same thing. How silly of me to think otherwise...

Candace really tried there. She had to take her L on that topic and move on.

Saw that this morning, I was overall glad to see how he handled it. A consistent message from him about the importance of the vaccine is pretty much the only thing that can make a dent in the anti-vax cohort out there. Plus he sees the vaccine as "his" victory so it doesn't surprise me he's now going on a full concert tour about it now. Still, good for him... and Candace came off pretty dumb and incorrect in that video.

Mr. Trump came up with 3 vaccines in less than 9 months.

                      Win.

Yep, and Trump wasn't the only one on that train 10 or 20 years ago. You only know what you know when you know it.

Putting on my Ax hat. LOL President Trump did not come up with the three vaccines.

Research into vaccines for the corona type viruses has been going on for more than a decade. I have a friend who is a post-doc at USC in California and they have lab there that has been working on this for more than 10 years.

What President Trump did (and should rightly deserve credit for it) was to remove "roadblocks" that delay the research and bringing a product such as this to market.

Without his stepping in, I still think we would have had vaccines, but they would have been a while in the future.
