Taking Karla’s Honda down to pick up Luke for break. I have accidentally left that key fob in the car twice. I’m amazed nobody has run off with the car yet.

      Heard of pockets?

Btw if you leave it in the trunk and close it, the trunk will pop open. Kinda cool.

Get your vaccine shots. Then the nanobots can take over whatever the key fobs do and you can ditch the key fobs.

My new Mazda beeps at me if I try to lock the car with the fob in it.

But 89’s advice is good. It took me about a month to stop taking the fob out of my pocket out of habit. Also it took discovering that there’s a little button on the door handle that will unlock the door if the fob is nearby. Before that discovery I thought I had to push a button on the fob to unlock the car, which had me take it out of the pocket.

            Only non-witches get due process.

Maybe he's worried about his pant lines.

Better than worrying about his panty lines.

                    2. half the crap in my pants pocket falls out and gets lodged between the seat and the center console…

Mine never leaves my pocket. I have keyless entry on my car (it unlocks when I'm near and I pull the door handle). There's a button on each door handle that locks the car (admittedly, I haven't seen if it works if I forget the fob in the car), but it's just as easy to reach into my pocket, and push the "lock" button which has a different tactile feel than the other buttons.

                          Agreed...

Wait till the FOB battery craps out and you can't enter or start the car.

While my '04 Honda uses a key to start, the FOB is used to unlock the door. It does have a key lock on the drivers side door.

About 6 months after buying the car, I hit a deer and had front end damage and drivers door damage. Took the car to get repaired. I always used the FOB to unlock the drivers side door. Couple of years ago, the FOB battery died. So I put the key in the lock to unlock it and it would not unlock. Turns out, when they did the repairs, they forgot to reinstall the rod linkage between the door lock and the key lock. I never noticed it for over 10 years because I always used the FOB to unlock the car.

Ever checked to see what a dealer charges to replace a FOB? It ain't cheap. Yea, you can get the battery replaced, but some of them are not user serviceable.

I was able to get 2 replacement FOB's for the Honda on Amazon for about 12 bucks.

The programming process was a piece of cake.

                                Eureka!

Fobs are a solution to a problem that doesn't exist, with a guarantee of breakage or maintenance, costing the consumer more in the long run.
