In a wheelchair, by a cop.
For shoplifting.

The cop was off duty, but he "was working a special duty assignment at the store."

This is why you can't enforce shoplifting laws.
The shoplifters just don't like to be harassed.

We know how dangerous vehicles are around crowds of pedestrians. Lowes is known to have crowds of pedestrians. The wheelchair may have been considered an imminent threat.

Apparently we cannot achieve any sort of balance.

Interesting comment. The victim's race is not mention in the CNN article.
Do you think if he had been (lower-case) black, that would have been noted?
That question is rhetorical, of course.
Wait...what was the race of the policeman? Surely that's important, AMIRITE??

He is black, but we cant say that about shoplifters. Self esteem, y’know.

Tough job being a cop. Perhaps he felt that the shoplifter posed a threat to others as he was holding the knife; however, I'm not sure the officer has a clear shot of the guy.
I would be concerned that the trajectory of the bullets could easily have hit a customer in the store. Ends the life of one and ruins the life of the officer (and families) as well - sad. -

Absolutely. I'd never want that job.

In a wheelchair?

This was one of the charges against Rittenhouse - he fired, not knowing whom else he could hit, iirc.

I saw a few videos of this a few days ago. I was confused why the person was shot... seemed beyond excessive. I did read that the person had a knife so maybe that is why?
Not that it justifies it, but 99% of these deaths would be prevented if the suspect simply cooperates during the arrest.

It's probably closer to 100%

I guess chocking his wheels or ramming into his wheelchair with couple of shopping carts never crossed their minds. Unloading eight or nine rounds into his side and back seems more than just little excessive.

suicide by cop used to never make the news. Now, it only makes the news if it's useful to feed the race narrative.

Yeah, I guess there were no shopping carts handy. Too bad, he called their bluff- not only a bad thief, but a really bad gambler too boot.
