@89th We're packing up the house to move, and I realized that my stuff can no longer fit in a hiking bag. It can all fit in a 2-door sedan, don't get me wrong, but I now have three whole plastic bins of shit that I now think I need.

I hear you. For years as a single adult I committed to not accumulating anything I really needed that couldn’t fit in or on my vehicle. Everything else, including furniture, could be disposed of.
Then I got married and bought a home. Accumulation won out over attrition. We are digging out from that now.

I hear you. For years as a single adult I committed to not accumulating anything I really needed that couldn’t fit in or on my vehicle. Everything else, including furniture, could be disposed of.
Then I got married and bought a home. Accumulation won out over attrition. We are digging out from that now.

Don't get me wrong, we have a house full of shit. But when it comes down to it, for me, all I need is in those bins. Plus 2 bikes.

I'm constantly in a battle with my wife (who isn't that bad) with getting rid of stuff we don't need. Sometimes I even throw away something without anyone knowing. THRILL OF MY WEEK.

Whenever I have a 'free and frank discussion' about the amount of crap in the house, Mrs. Doctor Phibes immediately orders more shelving or storage containers, as she says she knows I don't like clutter. Our house is freaking filled with shelving and storage containers, and the rest of it is covered in clutter.

My current battle is over jars... I have nothing against jars, per se, but we have a good number of Mason Jars for storing beans, popcorn, rice, nuts, and various sundry items... Yet, every time we finish a grocery item that came in a jar, my wife wants to save it. She has a cupboard full of them. Unused because there really isn't a use for them, but she still tries to save more of them... I have pointed out that there is no more room for them, but I still find the washed jars with labels removed sitting in the dish rack drying... I then secretly deposit it in the recycling bin...

I am hoping to avoid this but know it's inevitable.
