This is the desk. As u can see it tends to be a countertop to put various detritus and junk on. A chronic problem chez bach.

Yes. And that's a constant "thing" in our home.
When we moved to the condo, we got a new dining room table & chairs.
Mrs. George: "Imma keep this nice and tidy."

The original piece looks nice but I bet it’s a particle board behemoth that will require an engineering degree to figure out how to take it apart and put back together… No way that’s real cherry…

My guess... it is in two pieces, a base, and a case sitting on the base. The base is veneer on particle board. The case however, is almost entirely made of milled pieces of solid wood, except for the side panels, which are veneered particleboard. Of the solid wood, most is poplar. Only certain slim sticks are actual hardwood.
Edit: just noticed the sides of the top piece are glass, so scratch the thing about the top side panels being particle board.
