So as to not confuse the "TV thread"

What streaming device do you guys have?

    Apple TV
    Roku
    Firestick
    Chromecast

    D2 has an Apple TV
    D3 has a Firestick
    D4 - Chromecast

We have the built in Roku and a standalone Apple TV that I had before I got this TV

Everyone seems happy with their choice. Is there really a difference?

I have a Roku and a Firestick. The Roku is easier to use and navigate.

iPhone, iPad, computer. The only thing I stick in my TV is... well nevermind.

Started out with Chromecast but switched a couple years ago to Firestick.

              Like the Firestick much better.

I really like our Rokus. I would hesitate to get a TV where it is built in. Easier to replace both, and signing yourself in on any of those things is a pain. If you have a TV with built in and one or the other craps out you have to reconnect all over again.

I just added Amazon Prime to the Living Room Roku. Since it wasn't connected, I was prompted to scan a QR code on the screen, verify with my phone, and I was done.

                  Wow.

We used to use Roku's, but we found they used to freeze up when playing Amazon Prime shows, and only when playing Amazon Prime.

It reached the point where I began to suspect it was deliberate on either Roku's or Amazon's part. We replaced it with an Amazon Firestick and the problem went away.

                    I was only joking

That’s funny, our Samsung TV always kicks us out of Prime the first time we go into the app. When we go back in, it’s fine (Samsung TV, the Prime App is a featured App). We also have a similar problem with anAmazon Fire we have. I tend to think the problem is in the app itself.

AppleTV — because I want to extend my Mac’s desktop to my TV
Chromecast — because it’s so cheap I didn’t mind giving it a shot

AppleTV is more flexible, more powerful because you can run many third party apps on it, including interactive games.

Chromecast is a one trick pony — you can cast media onto your TV through Chromecast and that’s it.

I once considered Firestick (also cheap) but by that time I already have AppleTV and Chromecast and I figure I would not have time to play with yet another gadget. I can stream Prime Video just fine using the Prime Video app on the AppleTV.

Roku — I figure there’s no point having it unless I also subscribe to the Roku service, so it was never a serious contender for me.
