For those interested, check out last Friday’s episode of The Dispatch podcast. Sarah Isgur and David French host, guest is Ian Prior, a former DOJ attorney and Loudon County parent who founded ‘Fight for Schools’ to combat the excesses of the school board.

Lots of behind the scenes detail covered.

Yeah, that podcast reinforced my opinion of Ian Prior. He’s a political opportunist. I’m sure that he will be running for state office soon.

David French impressed me again, though, and I think I will add this podcast to my listen cue. Thanks, @jon-nyc

He and Sarah also do a very wonkish podcast covering SCOTUS called Advisory Opinions. Very interesting this time of year with all the oral arguments going on.

What’s with the grand jury? What are they investigating? That Twitter thread just assumes we know.

Apparently a high school student who sexually assaulted a girl, was transferred to another high school, where he then sexually assaulted a second girl.

There’s a fair amount more to it than the drag queen rapist. This is dealing with a number of different assault allegations involving faculty and students over the years and the district’s responses to these allegations have been erratic with a tendency to obfuscate… One particular case involves a teacher that was accused, the student was silenced and the teacher moved to another district.

In my opinion, most of this really needs to come down on the Superintendent more than the board.

Loudoun grand jury indicts ousted Superintendent Scott Ziegler following report on sexual assault response

A special grand jury in Loudoun County has indicted former Loudoun County Public Schools superintendent Scott Ziegler on three misdemeanor charges, a week after issuing a scathing report detailing the school district's misdeeds in responding to a sexual assault.

The office of Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, who had impaneled the grand jury, announced Monday that a Loudoun county judge had ordered three misdemeanor indictments against Ziegler to be unsealed. Loudoun County Public Schools Public Information Officer Wayde Byard was also charged with felony perjury.

Ziegler was charged with one count of misdemeanor false publication, one count of misdemeanor prohibited conduct, and one count of misdemeanor penalizing an employee for a court appearance. The charges carry possible jail time of up to one year. Byard's perjury charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

Ziegler, who had served as superintendent for Loudoun County Public Schools since June 2021 after a brief stint as interim superintendent, faced widespread criticism for his response to a May 2021 sexual assault that occurred in the girl's bathroom at Stone Bridge High School. The perpetrator of the assault was transferred to Broad Run High School, where he committed another assault in October 2021. Ziegler was abruptly fired after the special grand jury released a report last week that accused LCPS administrators of "fail[ing] at every juncture" when responding to the assaults.

The special grand jury was impaneled by Miyares at the behest of Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA), who had vowed to investigate the school district while campaigning ahead of the November 2021 election.

In the report, the grand jury blasted Ziegler for stating at a June 22, 2021, school board meeting that, to his knowledge, there had not been any sexual assaults in school bathrooms. The grand jury said it agreed with multiple witnesses who testified that Ziegler lied at the meeting, including one who said the superintendent's comment was a "bald-faced lie."

Can anybody explain his motivation for this? What bad thing would have happened to him personally if he had responded appropriately to the sexual assault? I get the broader shame avoidance for the left, but why would that motivation apply to this individual? It seems like he could have responded to the sexual assault, without politicizing it as a case in point against progressive bathroom laws. He would have made it easier for others to do that politicizing, but how would he have paid for that personally?

                              Education is extremely important.

Can anybody explain his motivation for this? What bad thing would have happened to him personally if he had responded appropriately to the sexual assault?

The woke mob was defending the kid, saying the allegations were bogus and prejudiced. He wanted to appease the mob.

This goes back before that. Loudoun County was in an uproar over the Trans policies he was pushing for well before the first attack. The first attack happened like a week or two before the final vote regarding allowing Trans kids to choose their bathrooms. It was at that meeting that he pretended that the right wing argument about trans “women” assaulting girls in the bathroom was a red herring, even though this had just happened.

In all fairness the story wasn’t that cut and dried, it turns out that the gender fluid kid had an existing sexual relationship with the girl, but…
