Now that US passports can have an entry of “X” (non binary or whatever) next to the Gender field, an honest question… is there any purpose of having it on the passport anymore at all if some can just decline to answer?

I'm actually curious what the data comes out to... on official government forms.
What % of people will actually mark the X? Will it change over time?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but biological sex can play an important part of trauma care and treatment in a medical emergency, no?
