When I'm sitting on the bike trainer, I do not only wear a helmet. I also wear a full body skin suit, shave my legs, and use a $500 triathlon aero helmet to be as aerodynamically efficient as possible. I also replace the saddle, saddle bar, and handlebars by carbon components to save weight. It makes a big difference.

My guess, judging by the way she's wearing it, is that she's new to bike helmets and is trying to get used to one.

        Please love yourself.

😄 Nah. On the eBike, I never get overtaken. On the singlespeed, first hill, every time.

                Please love yourself.

I find the whole overtaking thing slightly mortifying. Whether I'm on the giving or receiving end of the overtake it's always a little embarrassing somehow.

                    That's because you're British AF. 😄

Seriously though, I think it all depends on the other person. Some folks just plain don't care, and that's cool. (That's one of the things I like about singlespeeds. I play a different kind of game going up big hills, and so I just know I'm going to get passed and it's no big.)

But when it becomes a problem, then it becomes hilarious.

                    Please love yourself.

I actually had quite a funny experience last year. I'd gone out on my 2nd bike, a hybrid-mountain thing, which is anything but top-of-the-line, and some knobhead came right up behind me on a road bike, going faster and slower, he seemed to think he was doing some kind of training routine. Then he passed at speed and gave me a mini-lecture about how I should have flashing lights and a helmet, as though he was some kind of expert (I'd forgotten my helmet).

Anyway, vengeance was mine. We came to a hill, and he clearly wasn't quite as big an expert as he'd thought, I actually passed his $2500 road-bike on my $500 Schwinn.

I also wear a full body skin suit, shave my legs, and use a $500 triathlon aero helmet to be as aerodynamically efficient as possible. I also replace the saddle, saddle bar, and handlebars by carbon components to save weight. It makes a big difference.

Do you also take a single sip of water from your water bottle and then just dump the rest over your head?
