not sure i have any skin in this game, but i did read recently this book

which kinda goes into the politics and intrigue of bible translations over the years....

im an original text myself guy, (thats for OT of course, ive never read the original NT as my koine greek is not very polished, but I imagine that what i think of translations holds true also for that).

and what i think of translations is, imagine reading Shakespeare in Russian or Korean. you may get the words, and even the plot, but you aint getting Shakespeare.

same for the bible, u may get the words and the plot, and even the spiritual message, but you aint getting the bible, with its innumerable hebrew puns, play on words, allusions, winks of the eye, and sheer poetry. im afraid you will have to trust me on this.
