It would seem logical not so much that you are in the workplace but that you are doing things that engage your brain and social skills.

I keep looking around for a part time gig that I would enjoy, but it is being damnably difficult given the hourly rate I require. Still, I do word puzzles and the like, and I'm always working on my two charitable organizations. I work out five days a week and I think that has something to do with it as well.

I've been out of the workforce for two years now and I don't notice any decline.

Don't worry about the money. My PRN gig doesn't pay within $10/hr of my old lab gig. But it's an old man's job...Not usually real hairy, and I don't need to run all over the hospital. Still, it works the mind...

Yeah, it's not the money. A friend of mine back in Wales just retired aged 55. He's got a part-time job organising a company's IT for them, a couple of days a week at most. He's not taking much money at all, certainly not what he earned that enabled him to retire so young.

      I was only joking

I think being actively involved in his charitable orgs and the HOA should suffice…

I’m in a great situation. I’m retired, but I keep busy doing meaningful work with the foundation. Still learning a lot, interacting with very smart people, but part time. Mostly on my own terms how much I take on.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Two guys planting grass on the 16th tee today said "Do you mind if I ask how old you are?"

            I said almost 67.

They watch me run through the golf course in 90 minutes or less most days (normal people take around 4 hours).

They said "Wow, you don't look 67"

I retired 16 years ago, then I worked as a flight instructor for 10 years - but that was play.

It doesn't have to be work until age 67, it can be play.

Do you actually run? I know some people who do that. Anyway... that is impressive. That's 5 minutes per hole, which means you're either playing really well or driving very fast. 🙂

I drive and run (old-man-jog) from the cart to the greens or to a ball if I can't drive near it. I don't have a set routine if I feel like doing a quick jog, I do.

It took Luke and I 3 hours just to complete 9 holes…

Very cool! I doubt you do many practice swings. I’ve recently phased that out…I almost never practice swing unless it’s a club I have used in a while and need a quick reminder on the length.
