Sunday Recap

Pittsburgh beats Buffalo in a defensive battle, TJ Watt still looks like the Defensive Player of the Year with 2 sacks…
Cincinnati with the big win over Minnesota! Burrow looked great, but 5 sacks? That’s something to watch…
@Jolly has to be pleased with Jameis throwing 5 TD’s! Still, the offensive numbers were pretty pedestrian by both teams. The big news of that game is Aaron Rodgers getting benched? Holy #*%+!

If you watched the Saints/Packers, the Saints won that ballgame on the offensive and defensive lines.
At one time, I think the Saints had run 38 plays to 12 for the Packers.
A couple of things...
- The Packers had held their O-line out of the preseason. It showed.
- They weren't used to the heat and humidity.

I have many Packers fans as friends. It’s been a painful run for them and now the doom and gloom just sits like a haze over the field.

From Somewhere on the Net: "Packers Fans Are Already Blaming Aaron Rodgers’ Fiancee Shailene Woodley For His Terrible Game Against The Saints"
Comment: "Do we start blaming Shailene Woodley yet or wait a bit?"
Comment: "I’m blaming Shailene Woodley."
Comment: "everything bad that happens ever again will always be shailene woodley’s fault."
Comment: "Shailene Woodley got Aaron Rodgers sipping on mushroom tea and picking wild berries. We know exactly why he’s stinking up the joint."

Good to know stupid is not excluded from the ranks of football fandom. -

Ugh! Thought we were going to pull out that win after the dramatic tying of it before extra innings...

From Bleacher Report: "[N]obody has ever made the Super Bowl after losing its first game by a margin as large as the one New Orleans defeated Green Bay by on Sunday. Everyone is prone to a stinker here or there, but this was easily the most lopsided loss of Rodgers' career.
"Considering the timing, that should terrify Packers fans."
Do you think Aaron Rodgers is the most hated man in Green Bay this AM?
I don't know much about Rodgers, but I feel sorry for him right now. I wonder what happened?

Yeah the odds makers had given Green Bay a reasonable chance to be the division winner. That will hurt Rodgers more. Heck maybe Cam will get a vaccine shot and go rescue them.

Something had better if they don't get the lead out. From that same article: "Now, they'll run into a feisty Lions team that, unlike Green Bay, showed a lot of spirit in Week 1. And after that they'll have to deal with defensive juggernauts San Francisco and the Pittsburgh Steelers before hitting the road for a back-to-back against the Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears."
Yikes.

The Bengals have a QB.
Now, if they can just keep him out of the hospital...
It's better this year, but not enough. The decision to go on 4th and 1 and their own 30 with a 21-7 lead was a stupid a call as I have seen. That call alone let the Vikings tie the game eventually.

I think Green Bay will be just fine. Their timing and chemistry will get better on their routes. Their rookies will get better on the O line and they are not going to see many defensive lines like the Saints. At times, the Saints were playing four defensive ends at a time...That's unheard of. And the Packers defense ran into a different Peyton scheme...New Orleans ran the ball a lot more than they usually do. Also, Famous Jameis played a really good game, with no turnovers.
Green Bay will win the NFC North.

Welcome to Monday Morning Overreaction. It’s especially bad at the beginning of the year. This year will be worst than all others.
They are coming off a shortened preseason. With only 3 games, the starters have even less time than normal to get their timing down and to start coming together as a group. Mike Tomlin has famously said the season doesn’t start until Week 4. This is one of the longest tenured coaches in league and has never had a losing season.
Aaron Rodgers has been a league MVP and brought that team a Super Bowl. He may play past his expiration date and need to be removed, but that day hasn’t arrived yet. And even if it turns ugly, the fans will still love him while wanting him to retire.

It’s a thing. Type in “overreaction Monday nfl” and you will get hundreds of thousands of results.

Wow, it sure is over for Aaron Rogers… 5 whole incompletions on 27 throws. That’s one more incompletion than he had touchdowns, he only had 4 of those. Fortunately his defense was able to scrabble together enough stops for a narrow 35-17 win…

So Aaron Rogers was the league MVP… Yeah, I would say it was an overreaction…They fell short in the playoffs but I don’t know if that was on him. At any rate, now we will find out if he’s lived or hated in Green Bay…
