Cam Newton released from Patriots due to Vax status

To clarify my thoughts on Cam I am only arguing over the timing. His vax status likely accelerated what was inevitable but a great game 1 by Cam would have complicated that.
Why accelerated you ask? A mere release without any other variable would invite a raft of media I don’t think Belichick would have imposed on himself.

In fact it's entirely within reason to think Cam was released based on his ability to win, as compared to his replacement. Historically, winning is the thing, I think we can all agree on that, and I think we can all even agree that that's what Belichik cares about. It's all he cares about. A vaccine-free Cam would be on the team.

If Cam would have had a great game in the beginning of preseason, he'd be the starting QB for the Patriots this weekend, regardless of vaccination status.

I suppose Cam was benched in October and December last year because he wasn’t vaccinated?

Let’s start looking at the articles written about Cam by sports writers just before he was let go for hints.

“He has been highly touted in this space for his heroic 2020 season. He deserves top accolades for what he did last season. It was a Promethean effort worthy of praise, not disparagement”
BWAHAHAHAHA!
He was atrocious last year. As I said, he was benched twice in games. He had a QBR of 39. He threw more interceptions than touchdowns and this fansite is saying he was heroic…
Players benched twice in game don’t come back the next year.

Responding to the first of the two articles Loki posted, it seemed like totally a PR piece on Cam. Blithe disregard of any possible clash between who would start, Cam or Mac -- when the gossip has it that Mac will start.
So this guy doesn't seem very credible.

Well, I did some Googling briefly and re-redd this thread, and my considered opinion is this: There's lots more to the story that the PTB are keeping under wraps. We just don't know enough.
If I had to guess . . . eh, I can't even guess. I do recall somebody somewhere saying that in his opinion Cam had never "gelled" with the Pats. If true, that could mean a world of things. Including not getting along with Belichick, maybe?
