On another discussion board I frequent, I talked about how the North Texas Hospital Association was discussing the medical ethics of triaging vaccinated vs. non-vaccinated patients in light of a resource crisis. They had determined scant resources would be best allocated to vaccinated patients, as the odds of them recovering were better.
I followed that up with a sentiment I've heard a lot of docs and other medical personnel express recently - that they are becoming extremely frustrated with treating hordes of unvaccinated patients.
You'd have thought I farted in church and spit in the communion wine.

There's no real logic to the anti-vax argument. I'm not saying it should be forced on people, and I'm not saying it's a miracle cure, but currently it's the best we have. If somebody is arguing otherwise, they're not really arguing from a position that makes any sense, and it's going to ignite a lot of passion, because it's all based on emotion.

It makes a lot of sense when you internalize and fully accept that people make selfish decisions not in the interest of the collective every day and as a matter of course. If you can’t leverage selfishness in a society’s rules, then the rules are ignorant, magical thinking. That is the beauty of capitalism. At least it’s not ignorant, magical thinking.

I'm often amazed at how medically ignorant some people are...Hospitals never run out of beds, doctors can work 24 hours a day, any nurse can saunter into a COVID ICU and work until she drops. The Hippocratic Oath negates triage and medicine is only concerned with making money.
And we're lying about all those full beds...

They’re being selfish. For most of us, the selfish choice is to get vaccinated. They have a different value system, in which ignorance probably, but not necessarily, plays a role.
