They've shifted the American model a little east. Looks like the center of the cone is Houma.
If that's the case, that's bad ju-ju for New Orleans.
As usual, I'm working this Sunday, so the drive home may be a little sporty, especially on the bridge. I started preps yesterday...Checked out my generator, filled it up and sat another 25 gallons of gas back. I'll be using my saws this morning and I'll sharpen them afterwards. The wife will pick up some food for the finicky cat today, so barring unforseen problems, I should be able to stay dry, fed and somewhat cool for a few days.

Now, look...The durn thing is just a Cat 4...

"Tis only a warning...

You safe and secure?
What's the latest update for your area?
Maybe some hurricane force winds, around 4-6 inches of rain or so, just another day at the office.
The Hunter plane this morning placed Ida at 150mph, 935mb, which makes her stronger than Laura. She's a hair east of track, which makes it better for me in my part of the state, but I wouldn't want to be in New Orleans this evening. Good news is that almost all of the pumps are working, so you you shouldn't see the debacle of Katrina. But it certainly could be Betsy.
Speaking of, today is the anniversary of Katrina.
What we don't need is another "Forgotten Storm". Folks don't remember Rita, which followed Katrina and was actually a stronger hurricane. The one-two punch was not to be forgotten.

I hope we will see pictures of politicians surveying the devastation.
Oh, there's a difference between hope and certainty.
Unintended consequences...The hospitals are FULL. Can't move patients. I hope they have their feces together in New Orleans. I suspect they do, as best as possible.
Unintended consequences 2 - Hotels, shelters, etc., probably as far west as Houston and as far north as Shreveport and East Texas...Fellows, welcome to the highest rate of COVID in the world.
Just thought I'd through that last bit in there, as food for thought...

Speaking of Billion Dollar Betsy...
That's the 9th Ward, BTW.

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about that. What a potential shitstorm.
