In a bid to endorse the Taliban taking over Kabul, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said that Afghanistan has broken the "shackles of slavery" in the neighboring war-torn country.
The Taliban insurgents on Sunday closed in on Kabul before entering the city and taking over the presidential palace, forcing embattled President Ashraf Ghani to flee the country.
Imran Khan was speaking at an event to launch the first phase of Single National Curriculum (SNC) from Grade 1 to 5, which was part of the manifesto of his ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party.
Khan spoke how the parallel education system led to the existence of "English medium" schools, resulting in the adoption of "someone else's culture" in Pakistan.
“When you adopt someone’s culture you believe it to be superior and you end up becoming a slave to it,” he said, adding that it creates a system of mental salves that is worse than the actual slavery.
In the same breath, he indirectly likened the ongoing upheaval in Afghanistan with the people of the country breaking the “shackles of slavery".
Khan said becoming a mental slave was worse than being an actual slave, adding that subjugated minds can never make big decisions.
On multiple occasions, Pakistan has been accused of facilitating the Taliban rebellion which ultimately resulted in the capturing of the country after being ousted about 20 years ago.
Officially Pakistan has maintained that it wanted a broad-based inclusive government in Afghanistan and was also hosting the Afghan leaders to create consensus for a peaceful transformation. -

Maybe they should consult with American critical race theorists to guide them through this time. If they get it wrong, they will end up with a permanent victim class that'll end up becoming academics inventing nonsensical theories to explain the culture.

Nothing about this Afghanistan situation is good... but Biden doesn't have the same fan club that Trump did.
The administration should get criticism from people of all political stripes. I think it'll be refreshing to see all Americans to join in criticism of their leader on this... which used to be normal, rather than it always being tribal.
Maybe I'm being too optimistic.

Imran Khan was a truly outstanding cricketer back when I used to care about that sort of thing, and it has to be said a pretty impressive playboy, but he's a complete douchebag as a Prime Minister.

Biden's speech was well written. He laid it out pretty clearly that he wasn't going to ask American troops to risk their lives fighting a civil war the Afghans would not fight themselves, even as equipped and trained as they were.
But that stuff came later after he had desperately tried to tell us why this isn't his fault.

Good points. Basically what Trump (and Obama) said. However, his message from last week, "YOYO" seemed pretty tone-deaf.
But, the execution is different from the policy. The execution here has been awful.

That’s all well and good, though I disagree with him (as I disagreed with Trump)… That’s not the point right now… Right now the point is what a piss poor job they did with planning this and how many lives they are costing by this abominable execution of the plan.
