@jon-nyc said: We have a day for that. It’s in November. That's right. At least Christie seemed to make a bit of distinction. He could have been more clear.

Interesting, considering that the trial of Aaron Spencer is coming up. Spencer is charged with second-degree murder (a Class A felony) in the shooting death of 67-year-old Michael Fosler. According to reports and his defense:Fosler had been arrested earlier and faced dozens of felony charges (around 43), including sexual assault/rape of Spencer's then-13/14-year-old daughter, child pornography, and internet stalking of a minor. Fosler was out on a low bond ($5,000). Spencer reported his daughter missing; he later located her in Fosler's truck around 1 a.m. Spencer rammed the truck off the road. He claims he shot Fosler (multiple times) in self-defense and defense of his daughter after Fosler allegedly lunged at him. Spencer admits to the shooting but pleads not guilty, arguing it was justified under Arkansas law (defense of others/self-defense when a child faces imminent harm). Prosecutors have cited prior statements by Spencer as evidence of premeditation. The case has drawn significant attention due to missing evidence (e.g., dashcam footage), evidentiary disputes, and judicial changes. His pre-trial hearings (as of April–May 2026) have seen some defense wins on testimony and evidence issues, with trial proceedings ongoing.

@jon-nyc said: Cool, I’ll check it out. Thanks. This guy takes a very deep dive into the mythology of the Trojan war. He explains the "wedding," with the arrival of the goddess of discord. Aphrodite was not the goddess of love. She was the goddess of everything "below the waist." He takes a long look at Achilles' choice to become the badass hero we know him to be as opposed to living a long live and being obscure in history. What was the politics of Agamamnon's coalition attacking Troy? What was the story of Priam's wife giving birth to a burning torch? How did Achilles get convinced to join the Trojan war by Odysseus? So much fun. I'm about halfway through it, and when I finish it, I'll do this guy's story of The Odyssey. Just so I can throw tomatoes at my TV when I watch Nolan's version of the story.

I love that move. The Longest Day isn’t a patch on it IMHO.

I wholly agree with that approach, Klaus. I’d rather discover things before they are a problem and I did the same basic test after challenging my doctor how do we know my heart is in good shape? Lack of symptoms otherwise? Turns out I’m ok, but it’s good to know rather than assume.

jon-nyc said: What does the Iran debacle portend for Cuba? Theory A: Trump is once bitten twice shy, doesn’t take any more chances with wars of choice. Theory B: Trump needs a victory to heal his ego, like the bully who loses a fight and comes home and punches his wife. I’m leaning toward B. I guess we have an answer. The extent of our loss in Iran isn’t even public yet and he posts this as if Greenland were a 13 year old girl. [image: 1779578615130-img_2555.jpeg]

I watched the video and this is my takeaway: "what a vacuous TEDTalk." Good thing it's only 5 minutes and I watched half of it at 1.5x speed, so I haven't sunk in too much of my time.

89th, I’m sorry. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult that has been and is for your family.
