Imagine getting a cast like James Caan, Michael Caine, Sean Connery, Gene Hackman, Anthony Hopkins, Laurence Olivier, Ryan O'Neal, Robert Redford, and Maximillian Schell all in one film.

Hard to think of an equivalent.

If I had to pick the top three actors out of that short list of great actors, it would be Lawrence Olivier, Anthony, Hopkins, and Gene Hackman, not discounting the other fine actors at all

I will submit one movie that stands up with a long list of A-list actors called the longest day starring John Wayne. Henry Fonda. Robert Mitchum Richard Burton. Sean Connery. Peter Lawford. Robert Ryan. George segal. Paul anka . Eddie albert.

Two more movies that come to mind and I’m not going to bother listing all the names or it’s a Mad Mad Mad world, and the towering Inferno

I hate taking the subject matter to a different realm, but I’ve always asked people what their favorite animated Disney movie is and here are my top 10 or should I say 11 it’s hard to keep The Lion King out of the top 10 but be as it may here they are. Pinnchio, cinderella, snow white, sleeping beauty, jungle book, dumbo, alice in wonderland, bambi, peter pan, the little mermaid

Yeah I asked a few AI models for their takes on equivalents and they came up with some but to me they fall flat.

Part of that is just me, I stopped following Hollywood decades ago so I barely know the names of even the most famous actors and would have trouble picking them out of a crowd.

But the other part is that ‘A Bridge Too Far’ got all these studio stars when each were pretty much at the top of their game and were cinema draws on their own.

I think part of it was they appreciated the chance to be part of something they viewed as historic. Hell, some of the commanders involved in Market Garden were consultants on the film. Also none were asked to play second fiddle to a main star - they were all just one of many in the script.

                Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV.

                    True.

One of my favourite scenes in the movie:

I love that move. The Longest Day isn’t a patch on it IMHO.

                      I was only joking
