There will be a subsequent run on alternative protein sources. Get your nuts, eggs, cheese, etc now while you can.

Getting big Kroger order today, big local meat order tomorrow. Will have 4 dozen eggs. Nuts are coming from Costco in a week or so. We are well stocked for probably 4 months plus for protein, and I get ten pounds a month plus eggs on my CSA.

There's no shortage of meat in my house.

@jon-nyc you called the clippers shortage, so I bet you're right too! I actually planned a rare stop at Costco today, I know they are limiting items (like meat...and no thanks @Improviso !) and eggs IF they're even in stock.

Go in the morning. You need to hit them up after they have restocked. Yesterday afternoon they were completely out of fresh chicken and pork. Beef was low but available. Fish and eggs were plentiful. Cheeses were good but as Jon said, people will start to panic.

Preferably on a cold, rainy day which should be easy about now.

Consider nuts and peanut butter if they’re ever on your menu.
I usually eat cold cuts for lunch but I can do pb&j if necessary

Cold cuts and prepackaged meats are actually still fine right now. PB is starting to go...
@89th Also, I’ve noticed that some of the neighborhood Safeways are stocked while Costco is empty.

Good to know, it's tough with my schedule to get to a Costco early. I do go to Giant at 4am about twice a month, it's a great time to go.

Planning my first trip to Costco today as well. (Haven't been to a store in over a month)

Costco wasn’t bad today. They didn’t have any frozen chicken but I was able to get some Tyson’s chicken breasts, as well as their rotisserie chicken which is the best deal there for $4.99. The meat falls off the bone and you get a ton!
Anyway, I heard the echoes of TNCR while I was there so I got eggs, tuna, deli turkey, almonds, etc...

Oh, 89th, you weren't back yet when I called this and posted about it. I live out here in pig/cow/poultry land. I gave a heads up a couple weeks ago in a thread here.
Jon can have credit for many things, but ...

Isnt this thread somewhat of a reason that shortages occur?
"I have heard from a friend that peanut butter may be shortage coming up. Better go buy some!"
"Do you eat a lot of peanut butter?"
"No, but if there is a shortage, I better have some just in case!!!"

It’s all me. First I bought up toilet paper and hand sanitizer, then I posted a shortage warning on TNCR. Then I bought up the hair clippers...

I can not understand Costco’s rotisserie chicken. It is absolutely delicious and the chickens are ginormous, but how it’s possible to sell at $4.99, I will never know. I can’t buy a raw chicken for under $12 right now.

They cook them at the end of their expiration date?
I don’t get it either.

@LuFins-Dad I've “heard” they raise their own chickens which decreases the cost and increases the quality
@brenda fair enough! Speaking of fairs...I wonder what foods will be at the MN State Fair this year, if at all. What a delicious event.
@taiwan_girl no joke! I didn’t buy any PB but when I passed it in Costco I thought “but I remember TNCR saying it may be in short supply soon!”

For anybody who's interested, the next big shortage is going to be my book - available for a very limited time on Amazon.
