RIP Mike Collins

Michael Collins (October 31, 1930 – April 28, 2021) was an American astronaut who flew the Apollo 11 command module Columbia around the Moon in 1969 while his crewmates, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, made the first crewed landing on the surface. He was also a test pilot and major general in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.

In some circles most people think of Michael Collins like this
( a different guy - Collins is most famous for his leadership of the republican military campaign against Britain (the War of Independence) through the Irish Republican Army (IRA).)

There is considerably more to the Irish republican Michael Collins than that. Yes he was an IRA terrorist. He however supported Dominion status for Ireland as step towards independence versus the reactionary De Valera who had him murdered for seeking a peaceful means to self government. Collins is the hero De Valera is not.
