Today's lunch

One of the really interesting things about working in a smaller hospital is the "societal" aspect of the place.
For routine care, I have little doubt that my place was as good as any university/major medical center. Need a hernia fixed? Go local. Need a brain tumor excised....well, the university might be the place for you.
But, I digress...
I always found it interesting how my partners and I, though very friendly, cooperative and honest, never were really my "friends." I used to spend about 15 minutes in the morning with them, and that was the extent of it. However, my surgeons are the people I would spend the entire day with. These are the people who became my friends.
Of course, I didn't like all of them. There are many with whom I was indifferent - not rude, not even unfriendly...just, pleasant. However, there was a group of, perhaps, 15-20 surgeons with whom I became genuinely friendly. We enjoyed each other's company. We actually had fun when we worked.
So, with restrictions relaxing, I was able to get together with two urologists and a general surgeon for lunch today.
Burgers, beer, fries and bullshit.
Great time for all four of us.

You are fortunate to have worked with people that are normal, no overbearing jerks or weirdos.Imagine operating on a patient enjoying a different group of forum members from here, if we all were experienced doctors!

Start with Sex of course. And then Ax would unexpectedly pivot to lesbian volleyball.
Then scotch. Then politics.Imagine: an 8 hour operation completed in 1, as the physicians all got pissed off and left. Ax stayed behind for an hour to lecture and confuse the stunned patient.
Beautiful. And probably cheap, too!
