Were they intelligent? Well, for a dinosaur, it is thought they were somewhat intelligent due to their brain size relative to body size. But it turns out, that’s basically just saying they were slightly more intelligent than a board with a nail in it.
I've always found this sort of description annoying. It's all supposition based on limited information. There seems to be a sub-conscious desire for people to repeatedly point out how stupid dinosaurs were, presumably rooted in some deep-seated insecurity. OK, maybe I'm projecting.
Is a shark slightly more intelligent than a board with a nail in it? How about an alligator? 'Stupid' isn't the first word that springs to mind for either animal.

Couldn't figure out how to divert the path of an asteroid.
Probably too much infighting, with T-Rexs playing identity politics against Brontosauruses. Then all those gay triceratops (which is to say all of them, don't even get me started on that bunch of homos). Never could get around to developing a scientific method. We need to learn from this history, but we won't. We are doomed to repeat it, because of the left.
